Fic reviews: 2 SPN Big Bangs
Hmm, I'm tired of long fics. Time to take a break from Big Bang and read some Remix maybe.

37,500 words. It’s May second, and tomorrow is the first day of the end of the world, but Dean doesn’t know that.

Oh man, this was really good! Kind of a cross between time-travel and a groundhog day scenario. Dean keeps going back to try and save both Sam and the world, but things get fucked up every time. I kind of wish the details of the apocalypse were a little less vague (like seriously, wtf happens to Sam?), but overall it was really well-written and I liked it a lot. Her chapter breaks were great cliffhangers, too.

So Sam is willing to let his younger brother find their missing dad all by himself, but when his fiancee Jessica disappears, he'll drop his position at a D.C. law firm and hit the road to hunt again? Fine. Whatever. Dean can deal with that, just like he can deal with the strange dreams and crippling headaches. The demons, though? That part he doesn't want to do alone.

This is a neat idea. It's not just that Sam is older and Dean is younger, but there are neat little changes here and there that make it more than just a straight retelling of canon. But what it isn't is a story. It's an outline. It's like the author just jotted down the bits that were different from canon and strung them together. But the ending is the worst. There isn't one. It just stops. Because the audience knows S3 and S4 canon, they can kind of guess what might happen, but the story itself is incomplete. I was kind of getting suspicious by part five, as it was not getting anywhere near the end and I knew it was only six parts, and then sure enough.

This should not have been posted for the fest, as if it were an actual completely story. What a complete waste of time. :-/ And it really sucks because it was a neat idea and I liked a lot of the changes she made.

Also one thing that kind of skeeved me out was that one of the changes the author makes is who the other psykids are and what they do. And Jake? Totally written out. It's not like she changed the entire lineup. Jess and the haunted painting girl were new, but Andy and the other boy were the same. This would have been a great opportunity to correct some canon badness, but instead she just made it worse.
